Description

A posed portrait of five generations of the Breckon-Alton family. Charles B. Alton is in a christening dress and the others are also in formal attire. They are posed, with a hand-hooked rug at their feet and the ladies seated in wicker chairs, in front of a brick house built ca 1850 for John Breckon. Mrs Blair was then in her mid-90s and the house, owned by Wesley J. Breckon, on Con 2 SDS, Lot 2, was her home at the time. Its later address was 5264 South Service Road. It was demolished ca 1980. Correction - 5264 South Service Rd house is known as the VanNorman/Breckon house which is still standing and the address is 955 Century Drive Burlington - this picture was taken at John and Isabelle Breckon's house - which was located on the north service Rd one Farms and Farming east the Vannorm/Breckon house,Isabella, nee Blair (Mrs John Breckon) 1811 - 1911. Mary Ann, nee Breckon (Mrs David Alton) 1836 - 1923. Henry Edmund Alton 1854 - 1926 (lived in Eramosa). Charles E. Alton 1877 - 1969. Charles B. Alton 1905 -,43.3895,-79.761
