About the Burlington Digital Archive
The Burlington Digital Archive is your online gateway to exploring Burlington’s local history. Curated and maintained by Burlington Public Library, the Digital Archive includes the archival collections of the library and its partners, Burlington Historical Society and City of Burlington.
Featuring historical photographs, maps, postcards, documents and more, the Burlington Digital Archive provides access to thousands of materials dating back to 1873.

Archives generally use two main categories to group historical records: fonds and collections.
An archival fonds is a group of records that all come from the same person, family or organization, and were created as part of their everyday life, work or activities. Such as the Burlington Runners Club fonds or Annie Louise James fonds.
An archival collection is a group of records gathered together from different people or places because they relate to the same topic. Such as the Education Collection or Historical Maps collection.
