Lloyd Berryman was born on December 31st, 1921 in Hamilton, Ontario. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II in the 412 Squadron, 2nd Tactical Air Force, 126 Wing from 1943-1944, notably during the D- Day Invasion of Normandy on June 6th, 1944. His service earned him the Distinguished Flying Cross and the highest award bestowed by the French Government- the Ordre Nationale de la Legion D’honneur.
Lloyd Berryman became a citizen of Burlington in the 1950s, and served his community as a town councilor from 1964-1965. He continued this service by acting as the Mayor of Burlington from 1966-1967.
