Part view of the north elevation of Herberton House, 164 Townsend Avenue, showing the front entry with staircase turret. Lightning rods on the gable peaks. Joseph and Mary Weber stand in front. In the background, a garden chair and part of the barn.,Herberton House was built in 1847 for Henry Wyatt and his family (his wife Emma, 4 sons and 7 daughters), who immigrated from Long Ditton, Surrey in 1845. They donated land for the building of St Matthew's (on the Plains) Anglican Church in 1861. The property was sold to John Read in 1871, and is illustrated as the "residence of Reid Bros., Aldershot" in Martha Craig's "The Garden of Canada" (1902). Sold in 1943 to the Webers, who lived there until the mid 1960s. This is a digital copy of an original photograph.,43.3088,-79.8444
