The Burlington Horticultural Society (BHS), also known as Gardeners of Burlington, was established in March of 1919 when 25 Burlington residents came together with the common goal of beautifying the town and assisting residents with horticulture.
BHS operated as the Town’s Park Board in its early years until parks maintenance was taken over by the Parks and Recreation Department after World War II. BHS has spearheaded many projects throughout Burlington. In the 1980s, it created an Honour Roll of Trees, and later, worked on the Maple Park project. It currently maintains the perennial bed in front of the Central Park bandstand.
The digitized collection includes a scrapbook documenting the society's history and a selection of newsletters. More newsletters and records are available in the Burlington History Room.
